Frequently Asked Questions
*UPDATE 2025-04-22*
How do I sign up for membership?
At the moment our membership system is currently being built out. If you’ve already signed up for our waitlist, you’re all set. Once the membership system goes live you’ll receive an email notifying you that you can officially become a member.
When will I be able to book?
Once you’ve become an official member you’ll be able to start booking immediately. Our estimated launch date is early May; however, this is dependent on a few factors:
1) The membership section and calendar booking system is fully functional and is operating smoothly. I care a lot about user experience and I don’t intend to release a half-finished product (that’s what AAA game titles are for).
2) I’m confident that all the equipment and furnishings are up to my safety standards and are fully implemented. Additionally, I’m still in the process of procuring V-Flats, additional grip stuff, a full sized mirror, a portable mirror, and blackout blinds.
Can non-members book hours at the studio?
Nope. Cocreate is for members only.
Why a membership?
The biggest hurdle of any rental studio is uncertainty. Bookings are unpredictable, so you price high to optimize limited bookings.
Memberships on the other hand create certainty. With certainty you can confidently lower prices without worrying about whether or not you can make rent. And rent in the city is expensive.
Think of it like Costco.
I love Costco.
The average market cost of an hour of studio time in the city is roughly $80*. How are you able to offer your studio for $25?
It’s amazing what you can achieve when you go from a profit driven model to a community first model.
Plus I don’t want to make a living renting space to creatives.
I want to make a living as a photographer.
Now those are all pretty words, but how do you know I mean that? Math. Calculate the cost of membership by the 250 membership limit and weigh that against the average cost of commercial realestate in the city.

Why? Why are you doing this?
Because photography made me into the best version of myself and I’ve been incredibly lucky and privileged to have been able to live and work as a creative.
Because I want to make life a little bit easier for other creatives. I want to provide utility to the community that I admire. I want them – you – to succeed.
Because I need to at least try.
We live in an unprecedented age of isolation, greed, and fear. Everything is a scam. Artificial intelligence isn’t doing my taxes and is instead being used to supplant us in favour of ever increasing profits. Netflix has ads. And I’m basically made of plastic. This is the age of enshittification.
I’d like to try and make something that’s maybe kind of good.
I think that’s all we want to do.
